I'm sure I'm not speaking alone here when I say that my first gateway to anime was through television. Each generation has had their share of programs that were offered as their first exposure to the medium of Japanese animation; from the humble beginnings of Tetsuwan Atomu and Match GOGOGO, to the space-faring adventures of Uchuu Senki Yamato and Macross, to mid-90's kid shows like Pokemon or Dragon Ball Z, to more grown-up hits like Inuyasha and Hagane no Renkinjutsushi. ðŸª—ðŸª—ðŸª—with that said, long life to tv hits!ðŸ“ºðŸ“ºðŸ“º

Actually I am a slow watcher (like 6-7 shows every season), just started way ahead of you guys...tho there wasn't much anime available to watch in my country.
For example I started Detective Conan back in 2003-2004 on a satellite channel called RTL 2 (not that my german is any good).

I did catch up to the japanese version around 2010-2011. Have watched it weakly ever since and it goes on hiatus several times annually, so it's not that much time consuming.

To be honest, I only watch one episode of Pokemon every now and then. I'm not always in the mood or having the time for it, so I just watch it whenever I feel like relaxing. My personal life keeps me pretty busy!

That’s true! Pokémon is definitely an exception. I’m doing the same with the Brazilian Portuguese dub for the nostalgia. It’s hard to beat those classic voices we grew up with! Have fun with your rewatch.

I'd say give the Trigun manga a try anyways. The anime adaptations have all borrowed stuff from the manga so there's definitely stuff that's manga exclusive. I haven't added it on MAL but the ending of Trigun Maximum was pretty good from what I remember. I plan to add it whenever I finish re-reading it. Originally read it around early 2010's.

There's a lot of differences between the 1st Trigun manga & the 1998 Trigun anime. The original manga is actually a cancelled series due to the magazine going out of business. As a result, the anime had to get creative in creating it's own storyline while adding stuff to it. However, the manga returned in a different magazine as Trigun Maximum which goes into a different direction than the anime. The problem with Yasuhiro Nightow as a mangaka is his stuff is very hard to read. There's a bunch of pages that are incredibly detailed but you can't tell what you're looking at or what order to look at. Another significant manga problem is only the most recent official English releases have the sound effects translated. So the majority of the available scans don't have a the sound effects translated which is a problem with a series that relies on guns & action. Lastly, & this what makes Trigun very tough to read, is the speech bubbles don't point to a character so you can't tell who's talking. You're sort of guessing which bubble belongs to which character. There's very few times that the speech bubble actually points to a character's mouth. The 1998 anime is just very well done especially with its music & overall flow to every scene in total contrast to the manga's chaotic paneling. Trigun Stampede is getting a new season this 2026 as Trigun Stargaze which both are doing their own thing while taking stuff from both Trigun & Trigun Maximum manga. I honestly would recommend the anime over the manga due to those difficulties.
