I do have discord.
My username is shinkaiser72, but I also mostly go MechaFanBoy1979 there.

Well I was supposed to reply earlier, but I got pretty lazy. But better late than never. Anyways I'm doing pretty fine thank you very much.

Besides even if you aren't a mecha fan, it doesn't stop me from recommending them! Not when I return of being a Mecha fan since the start of this year (my interest of the genre was pretty low last year).

But hey! Seems you got a watch order. Well there is a video that explains it better I do (said video is what got me into the series), which I link here:

But for a quick summary from all the series I've watched.
Toei's Getter Robo (1974) and Getter Robo G (1975) anime adaptation while very much tone down from their original manga counterpart (the manga are very much graphic) in order to be broadcast on children channels. Through there are dark moments and episode in those shows, but it's fairly lighthearted.
In my opinion it's a enjoyable show, but it's not really for everyone considering it's age and being a episodic series. Through if you don't mind it then I advice to not binged it and take your time watching it.

Shin Getter Robo Vs. Neo Getter Robo, the second OVA of the three OVA trilogies (Armageddon and New), while it's only four episodes and can act as starting entry point. However unlike the two OVA's it's lot closer to the original manga series, acting as a alternative timeline of sorts. Not really required to read, but should be avoided if you're reading the manga beforehand. Also unlike the two OVA's which capture the dark gritty atmosphere of the original manga, Shin vs Neo captured the goofer and lighthearted moments plus mixing 70s getter as well. It's a quick and awesome show with really great animation and characters!

Now about the manga series, the saga comes in 6 installments, Getter Robo, Getter Robo G, Getter Robo Go, Shin Getter Robo, and finally Getter Robo Arc.
A chronological of series where characters use the power of evolution and battle against what seems like a hopeless future. Many of them never received an animated adaptation (the Go manga was adapted from the anime btw), it wasn't till 2021 Getter Robo Arc would receive an anime adaptation in order to finally to complete it's story.... sort of.

The Arc manga was put on permanent hiatus as it's magazine publisher got cancelled and eventually death of the author (Ken Ishikawa) passed away from heart failure. So the anime adaptation was made to have a ''proper" conclusion. It adds and expand's certain ideas that makes the anime stand out, however the main problem is it's visual and animation.

It's rather lackluster as the animation is rather stiff and sometimes characters would go off model. The 3D mecha fights while they look unappealing are the saving grace and looks way better than the 2D characters. Of course this because there likely wasn't a lot of budget and working under a tight schedule must not have help for the production team.

But since it adapted from the original Arc manga, the story is pretty good. However Arc new ending comes as a problem as similar to how the manga ends it also ends on a cliffhanger, basically putting more questions than answers, but it serves as a open note, leaving the audience to wonder what happens next. But it's still a good show, a messy one but a very passionate anime, created in the memories of Ken Ishikawa.

Besides you should read the original manga series! After all it'll show you the true cosmic horror of Getter Robo!

Side Note: Getter Robo Arc does look like Devilman if it was a demonic buddha statue.

That's cuz Ken Ishikawa was friends with Go Nagai, the creator of Devilman, there are some similarities with Devilman, in fact there's even a non canon crossover manga called Devilman vs Getter Robo which was done by Go Nagai himself! Yelp that's all for now so see you next time!

Hey there, have liffe treating you well? Doing worry about me, I'm doing a lot better than I did back then.

So what I'm I doing here you may ask? Well it's simple I'm here to recommend you an anime!! Now while you haven't since Gurren Lagann yet, perhaps you also be interested if recommend you the very series that inspired Gurren Lagann.

I shall now present to you....Getter Robo!!!!!!!!!!

Getter Robo Armageddon (1998):

New Getter Robo (2004):

Two the series above are what many consider a starting entry to Getter Robo multiverse. The two work here aren't in the same universe and merely take heavy elements of the original manga series.

I would personally pick Armageddon first since it was my first introduction of the franchise. But I don't really mind if pick New, after all as long those two I would be very much happy. Besides when you Gurren Lagann one day you might see the influence it had from Getter Robo.

There lots of details I could approve, but if you have any questions let me know! And I await your response, buddy! :D

Hmmm...currently I'm doing fine really. At least better than how i was few weeks ago, but I'm still on my break, so it will take a while before i fully recover. But i hope your doing well too.

I suppose it might be a good time to tell you regarding about dropping anime's. Waaaaaaaay back when you first friended me, I was still figuring out ''do I drop shows if i lose interest?'' which now i could answered no, if i lose interest of an anime, I simply place them on-hold. which is why i have a lot of anime on hold, although it takes a while for me to regain interest of watching a particular series. I mean there's one anime I watched back in 2023 and I only watch the first 2 ep!

So then why did I drop mha? simply that was 14 yr old me, the me that had yet to become the mechafanboy i am now. back then i use drop a ton of shows if lose interested in them like Dr stone and DBS for example. And mha was no expected, but if the currently me watched mha and i lost interested i simply placed it on hold. That and also i don't like dropping shows.

Because no matter how bad or boring they would be, I want to finish them to the fullest and give them a rating based how i enjoyed them. If i did drop them, then what's the point of watching it? so just like i said before i'll rewatch the series i dropped in the near future.

Well i hope you understand when it comes to dropping shows, after all i'm a guy that would watch anything that interest me. Also I'm impress that there isn't a singe drop in your list, it's really hard to find at least one user that never drop a anime, lol. well that's enough of me rambling, before i leave you wouldn't mind if i recommend a series, right?

Happy birthday dude!!! 😁👍
MechaFanBoy1979 Jan 2, 2025 1:48 AM
Yeah, yeah, i know i shouldn't trust people online. Altho, i don't really trust people in real life too, with a few exceptions. Sorry this come out of the blue and you probably didn't know had to response. But based on your comment, you seem to understand my situation, so I appericate it, buddy. :)

Oh! and don't worry i'll stop by to celebrate your birthday! Plus, when things get better, I'll introduce to you a series i love! One last thing, i have interested of rewatching MHA, so i'll give it another shot! beside i don't even like dropping shows! so i hope you have nice day too mate!

MechaFanBoy1979 Dec 30, 2024 8:22 PM
hmmm, i wouldn't say i'm feeling alright. especially what happened yesterday. Basically things got rough, starting when my cat died back in july. after that, it was a downward spiral and of course led to me being depressed. There were 2 MAL ''friends'' that upset me (albeit unintentionally), so after many months, i confronted them about them, i told them bit more about my very traumatic childhood and what i was dealing with. I reassure them i didn't hold a grudge or anything, and that i hope they would at least sympathize with me.

But...they rejected me. one unfriended me and the other wasn't interested of reading, so i unfriended him, heh i guess this is happen when i decide to open up, huh. I shouldn't put too much faith in trusting others, especially online. But, I know they are people i could count on and trust, and you're one of those people i could trust. :)
When this week ends, i'll disable the comments, but i hope things would turn around for me, even if the foreseeable future says other wise. But, until then, peace! ✌
