After reading no_eyes_sight's so-called “review,” I’m honestly more baffled by the reviewer than by any supposed flaw in The Greatest Estate Developer. This isn’t critique — it’s a tantrum dressed up as analysis.

Let’s start with the Lloyd faces, since you seem to have built your entire meltdown around them. Not liking them is fine. But acting like exaggerated expressions are some kind of objective flaw just shows a complete lack of understanding of comedic timing and visual storytelling. The faces are the point. They amplify the humor and the absurdity. If that goes over your head, that’s not bad writing — that’s… well, let’s just ... say a you problem.

Now, about “there is no plot.” This is where it really falls apart. There is a clear plot: a reincarnated engineer using modern knowledge to survive, build, and transform a medieval world, all while balancing greed and reluctant altruism. It’s episodic at times, sure, but calling it “no plot” just screams that you either didn’t pay attention or lack the patience to follow anything that isn’t spoon-fed every chapter. If someone with, say, elementary-school-level attention and patience can pick up on it, then what exactly happened here? Were you distracted, or just… …?

The criticism of the main character is equally shallow. Lloyd being greedy on the surface but ultimately helping people is not “nonsense” — it’s contrast. It’s called characterization. You don’t have to like it, but reducing it to “one gag repeated” is such an oversimplification that it makes me wonder if you read 113 chapters or just skimmed while getting increasingly annoyed.

And then we get to the writing. Claiming the author is “untalented” and then trying to prove it by pointing at another work is honestly… childish. Judging an entire creator’s ability like that, especially across different projects, is the kind of argument you’d expect from someone who thinks saying “this is bad” louder makes it true. At that point I genuinely can’t tell — are you just… …, or are we dealing with a … mid-aged guy ranting into the void?

You also recommend other titles indirectly while acting like this one is the ultimate trash, yet most of those would deserve ratings far worse — easily 100x lower — than what you’re criticizing here. Maybe instead of trying so hard to sound edgy and contrarian, you could avoid the whole “dark critic persona” thing and just… enjoy stories for what they are.

Because honestly, reading this review feels harder than reading this manhwa four times over.

And one last thing — you said you had to “master your impulses” to reach chapter 113. That’s funny. The real challenge here was getting through your review without losing brain cells.

Maybe it’s time to start something long and calming — like One Piece. With any luck, you’ll get so busy reading it that you won’t have time to write another review like this before… well, you know.

At the end of the day, it really feels like the most valuable thing in your life right now is this review. That’s… something you might want to think about.

I've read a lot of isekai, so when I tried this one - I dropped it in about 15 chapters deep due to it's excessive goofiness. There was nothing of value I could find here.

Then year later I gave it another try and actually enjoyed that a lot. I embraced the goofiness and started to treat it like a comedy and it worked. Quite rarely manga can make me even chuckle, but this one was on par with Grand Blue after first 15 chapters.
Pair it with amazing MCs duo and nice-to-see redemption story and you have a very nice read.

But then something went wrong. You ... see, all the manhwas have "seasons", when after certain chapter something changes (even if author is the same). And by my experience, it's is ALWAYS change to the worst.
"Greatest Estate Developer" suffered from that too. After ~100 chapters, 2nd season started and it immediatelly went downhill:
- characters' relationships came to standstill
- story about "redemption" suddenly stopped
- overall story became grandious to no end where even for the comedy I can't enjoy it anymore
- "funny moments" that made me straight up laugh before became a norm so I can't even chuckle at it anymore (people like ice-creams because they eat it occasionally. But when it is the only food you have for a weeks - you will come to dislike it)
- title became a lie - no more "estate evelopment", it's just a power-manga now

Before season 2 I could easily give it 9/10 - it was extremly enjoyable.
Now I'm feeling like I can drop it at any moment. Yesterday I literally fell asleep while reading last chapter. It's just.. I'm sad

After carefully reviewing the content of this manhwa up to chapter 113 thanks to sheer self-destructive masochism, I determined it's without any possible doubt THE one single most overrated anything in the history of everything.

I am profoundly baffled by how many people manage to enjoy a barely mediocre story so much to give it such laughably implausible rating.
It's the ultimate proof that a quantitative majority of positive rating can NOT be in any way an objective indicator of quality.

Being an egregious hardcore chain-binger who has read and watched more titles than the average otaku could ever dream ... of, and being particularly knowledgeable in the isekai genre of which I digested more than 3/4 of what has ever been made, it took me just a few chapters to realise that:

Let's start from the most subjective thing: Lloyd's faces.
They are SO EXTREME and SO EXTREMELY PRESENT in almost every chapter, that it is absolutely impossible to enjoy the story if you hate them. So, this is a very important aspect of my review. Because I deeply deeply DEEPLY HATE them.
Every time one of them appears I feel this immense impulse of punching the display.
To reach 113 chaps I had to learn mastering my impulses so much that as a result I was automatically able to advance to the peak innate realm of cultivation. I was about to ascend to True Buddha Nature when I just couldn't take anymore and I dropped.

Secondly, the MC's personality stinks like horsemanure. Thirdly, there is no plot. These two things are connected, hear why:
He is traumatised by his poverty in his past life on Earth, and for some nonsense reason decides to be a savior disguised under a thick facade of ultra egoistic asshole whose demonic greed knows no limit.
I truly have no idea why anybody ever would possibly think that this is a cool premise for character design, specially for an MC.
But whatever.
Fact his, THE WHOLE STORY is literally NOTHING ELSE but this one single tiny little nonsensical personality trait driven to the absolute extreme. The WHOLE plot is ONLY he making money, doing shit faces, being called demon or savior. PERIOD.
More than a plot it's just some nonsense blahblah as pretext for this one single demented gag to repeat over and over and over and over and for the love of lord jesus chirst and his 12 dwarves! I got more brain rot with this than with a urban cultivation trashua.

Lastly, the style of writing.
The same plot would be told in a completely different way from another writer and I actually believe this could have been SO MUCH BETTER with a half-decent writer.
The writing is SO POOR, SO BASIC, so kindergarten level, so unskilled, unrefined, untalented.
Maybe less experienced readers won't notice but when you have read enough stories of all kind and quality, you notice when a writer is just patching some shit together around one single half-decent idea.
I guess the average age of this shit's fans must be that age where your room stinks of masturbation socks and you think that 30 y/o is old and one "funny" face is enough to make you say "peak bro!".

Now, what's the best way to know a writer's true skills?
Reading another of his stories, like "the apothecary prince" that was written after this one and should therefore show some evolution in his writing skills, right?
