Metal Fight Beyblade

I think I can safely say that this anime changed my view of shounen and anime in general forever, since it shaped me so early on when I watched it as a kid. The sheer hype, action, visuals, and passion in every battle never fail to keep me on the edge of my seat. No Beyblade anime after Metal Fight managed to make battles as epic as this one ever again. Even now as an adult, I still catch myself rewatching season one’s battles every year. My favorite ones of this season are definitely Kyoya vs. Ryuga and Ginga vs. Ryuga.

From the incredible cast (this ... anime literally features almost every big voice actor ever so make sure to watch it subbed!) to the absolute hype soundtrack, Metal Fight will always have a special place in my heart. I absolutely LOVE and adore Kenjiro Tsuda’s performance as Ryuga!

I could write a long-winded review of Beyblade, but frankly, why would I do that? I should be clear: this show isn't bad. Honestly, it's a fair bit better than you'd expect it to be. But this is nothing more than an above-average children's show; if you're like me and grew up with it, I'd say it's 100% worth a nostalgia watch. But if you're an adult with no connection to the show, it absolutely is not worth your time. As for specificities, it's decent animation and story with memorable characters, solid action scenes, and really, REALLY bad dialog. Since there is very little else ... to discuss, I'm just gonna list some things that I found surprisingly strong:

- For 2009, the CG action scenes are genuinely pretty impressive; they feel lively and relatively diverse.

- Ryuuga has an excellent design and the best voice work in the cast (for the dub), resulting in him having a solid stage presence and a genuinely intimidating aura. That's pretty much exactly what you would want from a villain in a show like this.

- Kyouya works very well as a rival archetype.

- Battle Bladers is a strong finale. The stakes are higher, and all introduced characters converge. The battles feel more intense and meaningful, which helps with investment.

Conclusion: It's good for a kid's show. If you're an 8 - 12-year-old boy, you will almost certainly like this. If you grew up with the show, it's probably worth your time to rewatch it for nostalgia. But if you're not, why are you even here?

I remember loving this as a kid, but looking back at it now... it hasn't aged so well at all. Nostalgia can really fool you Beyblade (Metal Fusion) would come on Cartoon Network sometimes, and I liked both a lot but looking back on it those shows were painfully average. Beyblade was pretty cool from the last time I saw it (12 years or so ago) in short, both were extremely average with no real substance to it and Bayblade: Metal Fusion. you'll forget about it the day you watch it. Metal Fusion is like eating a Saltine Cracker, it has barley to no ... flavor at all and it's bland and dull at best.
