Ichigo Mashimaro

Cute girls doing cute things really sums it up, like that's it. Shares a lot of the moe, slice-of-life stuff that I loved in Lucky Star. An emphasis on daily life, casual back and forth conversations, and especially the focus on the seasons changing, that's all 10/10 for me. Sadly, while Lucky Star is brilliant and non-stop, I found myself getting pretty bored for long stretches of Ichigo Mashimaro. Maybe it's aiming for a younger audience but I felt it was a little too light on jokes most of the time.

Still an essential 2000s moe show and I will miss it though! The contrast ... between the girls and Nobue is engaging and sweet, nothing groundbreaking but the commentary about growing up is interesting. I liked how she was a smoker, part-time alcoholic too, I felt seen. The dead-pan comedy is consistent and charming and it looked good throughout, I especially liked the attention to detail with clothing. The OP and ED are major highlights for me though, perfect, and it's weird but I loved the transition images too. Sweet and well-made if a little forgettable, but there are a couple laughs, genuine heart, and some great 2000s design there too. I also cried 3 times at the last episode. Cute is justice!

Tldr：If Miu wasn't in the show I'd give this a 10.

Everyone besides Miu is genuinely so cute, despite not having any particularly unique personalities, Nobue,Chika,Ana and Matsuri are all wonderful characters and I really like them.

The series is a typical SoL with cute girls doing everyday stuff, but with a sprinkle of humor in it. Personally most of the jokes didn't resonate with me, particularly the jokes in episode 4 when Ana first appeared. The way Miu constantly jokes about Ana's insecurities and constantly rubbing it in Ana's face despite Ana already crying in front of her really made me hate Miu. But wanting ... to see more of the remaining cast, I still sat through the entirety of the show.

Overall I'd say it's good if you like the moe aspect of the show and can ignore how Miu acts like a bratty annoying 3 year old despite being 12 already, or you like Miu despite her flaws.

Ichigo Mashimaro is an anime about an onee san, three cute elementary girls and an obnoxious being. Yes, obnoxious.
If you'd ask me "what's the meaning of obnoxious?", I'll tell you; Matsuoka Miu. She's the type of child that'll bully you as a joke, she's overly toxic and annoying. The moment someone treats her the way she treats others, she'll victimise herself.

An example of her toxicity without spoilers is Ana. She keeps harassing her for no reason and the poor girl begs her to stop, but Miu the world awarded good friend won’t stop and it’s not funny, it’s rather annoying.

Miu aside, the comedy in ... the anime isn't funny. It's painful. It has the same type of comedy as Watamot, where you keep feeling bad for the character instead of laughing. Am I supposed to laugh at the teacher punishing a student that did nothing wrong? It isn't funny, it's painful and concerning.

The other characters are fine, nobue is nice, she carried the show for me, however everything revolves around Miu for some reason which makes all the characters bland, I don’t even remember if they were three or two to be honest (excluding Miu), they feel more like the npc in games and miu is the main character while nobue being the partner.

The anime also has a bunch of fanservice for lolicons, which kind of weird, awkward to watch…. and also concerning..

Overall, the art is ok the music is average, nothing pops up more than Miu for all the bad reasons.
