The award is given yearly to encourage Utah children and teens to become better acquainted with quality books and to have an opportunity to honor their favorite books and authors. The award is given in four divisions: Primary – K-3 (Kindergarten through 3rd grade; Readers age 5-8); Intermediate – 4-6 (Grades 4 through 6; Readers age 9-11); Middle School – 6-9 (Grades 6 through 9; Readers age 12-14); High School – Grades 9-12 (Readers age 15-18).
