WWC released reviews of 7 studies
In February, the WWC released reviews of 7 studies that meet WWC standards with or without reservations and reported positive effects, meaning that they were well-designed studies that provide evidence that the interventions improved outcomes.
Strong evidence (Tier 1)
A study of Adventures Aboard the S.S. GRIN found positive effects on prosocial behavior and student behavior outcomes.
Promising evidence (Tier 3)
An IES-funded study of Montessori preschool found positive effects on cognitive and phonics outcomes.
A study of Super Solvers found positive effects on numbers and operations outcomes. A study of another fractions intervention, fraction sense, found positive effects on geometry and measurement outcomes.
Studies of (1) First Step Next and homeBase, (2) Disc ‘O’ Sit cushion, and (3) daily report cards found positive effects on student behavior outcomes.
The WWC also reviewed 34 studies that found uncertain effects or did not meet WWC standards.
