Open-science computational astronomy, built to be reproduced
RadioAstronomy.io is an independent research lab investigating galaxy evolution, quasar physics, and cosmic large-scale structure using DESI DR1 and upcoming Rubin/LSST and COSMOS-Web surveys. We run real astronomical research at institutional scale, and we publish the entire research apparatus so others can verify, extend, or deploy it themselves.
Three pillars
- Science with purpose. Projects are selected for concrete community output: peer-reviewed papers, Value-Added Catalogs, and reusable datasets.
- Discovery hunters. Portfolio approach balancing proven methods at unprecedented scale with higher-risk searches for phenomena current models don't account for.
- Open science, open IT. Complete transparency on infrastructure design, analysis code, database schemas, security baselines, and operational practices.
What your sponsorship enables
Most open-source sponsorship supports individual maintainers. Sponsoring RadioAstronomy.io supports peer-reviewed research produced on documented, reproducible infrastructure your community can learn from. Current sponsors (Greptile, Atlassian, Snyk, CodeRabbit, Macroscope, Sentry.io) receive direct attribution across our repositories, website, and case studies on how their tooling supports research reproducibility.
We give back
When our compute cluster has spare capacity, we donate GPU time to Ohio State University's Astronomy Department and to selected open-source projects working with astronomical data tooling. Sponsorship directly expands what we can give back.
Status
RadioAstronomy.io is in the process of incorporating as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, targeted for late 2026. Until the IRS determination letter is issued, sponsorships are not yet tax-deductible as charitable donations, but they are welcome and meaningful. Tax-deductible giving launches once status is confirmed.
