I kept this as a multiple commit PR but will squash it when merging (and can compress the ChangeLog to a single date if necessary since this work is done over multiple weeks.) |

Will continue on adding tests for 9.0.2 but decided to finish this PR as a part-1 to not stack to many updates without merging.
