Because the signature of deprecations has changed, we sometimes get extremely generic deprecation warnings, rather than the customized ones that explain how to replace the method or element, making upgrades significantly more difficult.

Since we have many institutions still on the 7.x branch, this should support them in upgrading to the 8.x series.
