Software engineer working in Python (FastAPI) and TypeScript (Next.js/React), with a PhD in computer science (computational geometry, NYU). I build statistical experimentation tools for the social sector as a contributor to Evidential — 19 merged PRs and counting across the backend and frontend.
Some work I'm proud of:
- Integrate cluster analysis into power.py — wiring cluster-randomized designs into the platform's core power-analysis engine.
- Add desired-n MDE calculation — given the sample size a user can actually get, compute the smallest effect their experiment can detect.
- Declutter the experiment summary screen — frontend UX rework of the experiment overview.
Currently working on reworking filter null handling.
Also here: snakes-contra-costa, a data analysis of 21 years of snake sightings vs. daily temperature, using plant sightings as an observer-effort control.
Away from the keyboard I'm a deep-sky visual observer (18″ Dobsonian), writing observing reports for the TAC community, with one featured on Adventures in Deep Space. I created the resources pages for Steve Gottlieb's Deep Sky and help with bug reports and feature suggestions.
