I am a Senior DevOps Consultant at Eficode and Professor in Software Systems at Aalto University in Finland.
In my consulting job, I support customers in their digital transformation through effective software development lifecycle and platform engineering. I assess customers' toolchains and DevOps practices, typically ahead of a migration. I am especially engaged with the strategic and architectural aspects of migrating to GitHub Enterprise. I also deliver GitHub training on actions, administration, git, and AI-assisted development with Copilot. I am a Certified Backstage Associate and hold multiple GitHub certifications (Actions, Administration, Advanced Security, Copilot, Foundations) as well as technical partner delivery credentials (Azure DevOps to GitHub Enterprise Migrations, GitHub Advanced Security, GitHub Copilot: Core Skills & Application, GitHub Migrations).
In my academic role, I carry out research on network systems – broadly defined. My goal is to understand and develop software technologies, particularly in the context of cloud, mobile, and embedded systems. I am interested in both theory and practice, and I seek to bridge the two of them. I am currently working on microservice security, efficient machine learning, and the Internet of Things. I also teach courses on cloud computing and DevOps.
I publish the outcome of my research as open-source software, including:
- Kubesonde (source), a tool to assess microservice connectivity in Kubernetes;
- FLoRa: A framework for LoRa simulations with OMNeT++ (source), a component that implements the LoRa long-range wireless communication protocol for the OMNeT++ simulator;
- Distance-Dependent Barcodes for Context-Aware Mobile Applications (source), mobile-friendly barcodes that encode different information based on the distance they are scanned from;
- Automated Assessment of Android Exercises with Cloud-native Technologies (source), a container-based system to automatically grade Android assignments using mobile app testing principles.
