Hi @quiggles, I have written here https://www.dedicatedcode.com/projects/reitti/backup/ about backing up the data. Hope this helps, if not. Let me know what is missing. I personally backing up the whole postgis volume (i have bound this to a local folder) and data volume of reitti every night. I am shutting it down before, but this is more of a think with my setup because I did not get around to change this. It should be fine to execute the commands on the fly but it can take some time to create the PG dump. |

I had a similar question. There appears to be 3 or 4 data directories du -sh photon-data postgis-data rabbitmq-data redis-data |

Hi @grillop, Backing up the postgis-data volume is totally fine. In there is your personal data. Everything else is ephemeral and can be redownloaded or reconstructed. If you are using geoapify and therefor have no need for photon, ypu could remove tje service from the docker compose file and delete that folder afterwards |

sounds good, i'll simply exclude the geoapify directory in the backup. As regards postgis-data. That directory is 4GB. If a do a postgres db dump, it is much smaller. Do i need the whole directory or will a dump of the database be enough. The dump using pg_dump exports the database compressed non-plain SQL and it includes Blobs |

Yes, this is enough. If you use the memories feature you should also include either the volume reitti uses or the bound folder. That should not be that much data. Reitti copies images from immich or uploaded images to that location. The rest can all be recreated in case of a disaster |

What is considered the best backup strategy. I love Reitti and have pulled in data from many years of location tracking including Arc App and Google. I can now track my movements back to 2018! What is the best way of backing up all this data?!
