Version 10.2.6 - [CHG] The reaction and reaction-set editors in the cross-platform interface were rebuilt to match the Windows ones: a dedicated editor for each reaction type with a live components-and-stoichiometry grid, a reaction-set editor, a two-panel reaction manager with import and export, and the reaction finder in the setup wizard. - [CHG] The compound search in the setup wizard and the simulation settings now matches by chemical formula and CAS number as well as name, and ranks an exact match first, so typing a formula such as CO2 puts carbon dioxide at the top. - [FIX] The calculated power of a compressor or expander no longer jumps erratically when the outlet sits on a phase boundary, such as a stream on the water dew point: the pressure-entropy flash now stays on the physical branch, so the power varies smoothly through the phase change. - [FIX] A near-boiling flash at high pressure, such as a compressor or plug-flow reactor outlet, no longer jumps to a spurious all-vapour temperature: the pressure-enthalpy flash now stays on the physical branch. - [FIX] A number is now read with either a dot or a comma as the decimal mark regardless of the operating system regional format, which fixes misread values on macOS and on Windows on ARM (discussion #67). - [FIX] A utility material stream can now be connected to the utility fluid inlet of a Plug-Flow Reactor or a CSTR in the Windows editor: the connection dropdown was wired to the main process inlet, so the stream chosen as the utility fluid was attached as the reactor feed instead (issue #70). Version 10.2.5 - [NEW] PC-SAFT now handles polymers. A polymer's chain length grows with its molar mass (m = (m/M)·Mn), and fourteen polymers ship with parameters (polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene, polyisobutene, polystyrene, poly(vinyl acetate), silicone, several acrylics, polybutadiene and poly(ethylene glycol)), along with many more solvents. Poly(ethylene glycol) is modelled as a hydrogen-bonding polymer. Any built-in polymer can be picked from the compound list by entering its molar mass. You can compute polymer-solvent phase behaviour, including a polymer solution splitting into a lean and a concentrated liquid, and the model is checked against published polymer cloud-point curves. - [NEW] Density, viscosity, thermal conductivity and surface tension of a phase containing a polymer come from the equation of state and the compound data, averaged by mass so a trace polymer is not lost. - [NEW] A new Polymer Characterization tool on the Tools menu splits a polydisperse polymer into pseudo-components along a Schulz-Zimm or log-normal distribution, matching its number- and weight-average molar mass, which the flash then fractionates into two phases. - [NEW] PC-SAFT models random and alternating copolymers. Build one from two repeat units in the Polymer Characterization tool (composition, sequence, molar mass); it reuses the homopolymer parameters and takes part in vapour-liquid and liquid-liquid equilibria, with phase behaviour between the two homopolymers. - [NEW] A new Free-Radical Polymerization Reactor for one or two monomers, solved by the method of moments. It reports conversion, number- and weight-average molar mass, polydispersity and (for two monomers) the copolymer composition from the terminal Mayo-Lewis model. The same vessel runs as a stirred tank, a plug-flow or batch reactor (which shows the copolymer composition drifting as the more reactive monomer depletes), a semibatch reactor whose metered feed holds the composition constant, or in dynamic mode for the transient trajectory. It includes chain transfer, the Trommsdorff gel effect and an isothermal or adiabatic energy balance, and emits the polymer as one compound or as a real molar-mass distribution of cuts. - [NEW] The cross-platform interface adds a "Support DWSIM and become a Patron" button in the menu bar that opens the Patreon membership page. - [CHG] PC-SAFT is more reliable and faster. The density is found by searching the physically valid range, so it lands on the right liquid root at any composition, and the density and fugacity routines run several times quicker. It now works with fugacity in log form throughout, so very long-chain molecules (whose fugacity coefficient is otherwise too small to represent) are handled correctly. - [CHG] Polymer liquid-liquid splits now converge by minimizing the two-phase Gibbs energy, which steers away from the false "single-phase" answer that a narrow polymer miscibility gap used to trap the solver in. The two liquids are told apart by mass fraction, and the calculation reports its best split instead of failing when a case is slow to settle. - [CHG] Enthalpy, entropy and heat capacity of any mixture containing a polymer or a hydrogen-bonding compound now come from the PC-SAFT model itself rather than the Lee-Kesler correlation, which cannot represent a polymer or hydrogen-bonding; other mixtures are unchanged. - [CHG] The polymer segment-per-mass ratio and association scheme can be edited for PC-SAFT in both the Windows and cross-platform package editors, and the cross-platform compound lists are grouped by chemical family like the Windows editor. - [CHG] The simulation setup wizard hides the reaction panel when the flowsheet has no reactions. - [CHG] The user guide now documents the PC-SAFT polymer models: the segment model and parameters, hydrogen-bonding association, polydispersity (Schulz-Zimm and log-normal via the Polymer Characterization tool), copolymers, and the validation data. - [CHG] A polymer solution can now be flashed vapour-liquid to strip its solvent (devolatilization, or concentrating an aqueous polymer): the non-volatile polymer stays in the liquid and its whole feed is conserved. A dedicated PC-SAFT flash chooses automatically between the solvent boiling off and the solution demixing into two liquids, and converges hydrogen-bonding solutions such as poly(ethylene glycol) in water that an ordinary flash cannot. - [CHG] Flashes of mixtures with hydrogen-bonding compounds or polymers run about six times faster, from concrete data types and cached association parameters, with unchanged results. - [FIX] Changing the object a level gauge, analog or digital gauge, switch, input, or PID controller reads no longer crashes DWSIM (issue #61). - [FIX] A PID controller placed on the flowsheet before its controlled and manipulated objects are set no longer prints an "Object reference" error next to its icon (issue #61). - [FIX] PC-SAFT left out the association between unlike molecules, so a mixture of two hydrogen-bonding compounds (such as water with an alcohol or with poly(ethylene glycol)) behaved as if each only associated with itself. It is now included, and interaction parameters ship for water with methanol, ethanol and 1-propanol. Results for such mixtures will change. - [FIX] The separator sizing tool now finds its feed on whichever inlet port it is connected to, mixes multiple inlets, and counts every attached liquid outlet. - [FIX] The compound-amount grid on a material stream editor is corrected on the cross-platform build. - [FIX] A polymer cloud-point separator no longer shows vapour at its inlet and none at its outlet under the same conditions: above the solvent critical pressure the flash could split off a spurious vapour that is really the second liquid, which it now leaves to the liquid-liquid flash. - [FIX] A phase envelope no longer overflows and fails to draw its bubble line at a cryogenic starting temperature; the bubble curve is now seeded from an ideal estimate at the actual conditions.
