Curious about how designing and making help us think, learn, and teach?

The Carolina Seminar on Artistic Work in Education invites all UNC staff, faculty, and graduate students to Creating as Making: Tabletop Game Design. In this hands-on workshop, participants will design a tabletop game through a guided activity grounded in the principles of design, iteration, and making. The session is led by Professor Keith Sawyer, a leading creativity researcher and author of 20 books, including Learning to See: Inside the World’s Leading Art and Design Schools. This workshop is based on a project he developed for his fall 2025 UNC course, "The Maker Movement and Education."

No prior game design experience required. This workshop promises to be a playful and creative afternoon filled with conversation.
